The History Of The Club
In September 2003, Nigeria launched NigeriaSat-1, followed by NIGCOMSAT-1 in May 2007, marking Nigeria’s entry into the league of space-faring nations. To sustain progress in Space Science and Technology (SST) and empower future generations, the Space Club was launched by Air Marshall Paul Dike on May 18, 2007, at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife. This initiative aims to equip young people with space-based knowledge for professional and everyday applications, fostering national development.
Our Vision
Space Club, the brainchild of the Centre for Space Science and Technology Education (CSSTE), was conceived as part of a “catch them young” initiative. It aims to sustain efforts in sensitising, educating, and raising awareness among students of tertiary institutions about the vast opportunities in space technology and its benefits for humanity.
